It’s Christmas! Happy Christmas.
Cracking open a perfectly chilled beer is one of the best things. I started doing this daily. Then it was a few times a day. Then it was when I wake up and during work and well into the evening. Finding myself walking around or standing aimlessly not knowing what to do. Might as well have a beer so I don’t have to think.
I quickly fell on one of my old crutches to ignore problems or life in general. An 18-pack would only last me a day or two at most. I was also going out several times a week. Not only was I keeping myself under the influence I was also doing a great job draining my wallet! Neither of which is a lasting solution.
A few weeks ago I quit cold turkey and decided not to drink at home anymore. Right about the same time I had my medication increased thinking in combination, this would help improve my moods. I’m happy that it has, I’ve gotten back to writing more again and haven’t been as “pointless” lately. Slowly working on different aspects of my life has proven to be a positive move.
It’s not over, I can still drink it’s not an addiction but I have more respect for the crutch. The addiction is to the feeling just like any other, the method varies for many people. It’s time to step out of the clouds and keep working, keep fighting, making life better.
Mt Dew Kickstart has replaced the taste craving easily and while it’s not the best, it’s a lot better. Life is about growth, why not see what we can achieve! We still have bad days, and that’s fine. Get back up and keep going! Hold your loved ones tight, cherish every moment.
What’s an addiction or bad habit that you have kicked? Or one that you want to kick?
